What is Grantham Future?
Grantham Future is the town centre management partnership. Town centre management companies are becoming increasingly popular nationally and internationally. The need for these companies was heightened in the 1990’s when out of town developments became increasingly common. Over 500 towns and cities in the UK now have a focus on their town centre through these partnerships.
Who is involved with Grantham Future?
The board consists of a mixture of private and public sector members. These are all voluntary members with a maximum of twelve board members at any given time. They work in partnership with a variety of bodies such as South Kesteven District Council, local businesses, voluntary and community organisations, sub regional and regional agencies. The town centre manager acts as a liaison point between these groups and works to co-ordinate and implement events and initiatives for the partnership’s common goal.
What are their aims?
The team strive for continuous and sustainable improvements for Grantham. This can be socially, economically or aesthetically based. The ultimate aim is for residents to enjoy living in the town, to make it a pleasurable experience for visitors, for businesses to be thriving and to provide a safe place for all. The company’s mission statement is:
“To create, promote and action a deliverable vision for Grantham’s regeneration, to secure the commitment of all stakeholders to that vision, and to pursue single-mindedly but with the co-operation of relevant partner organisations its implementation”
How do they help?
  • Grantham Future were a pivotal group in ensuring the creation of the Grantham Town Centre Issues and Options 2007 document which will be the main strategic planning document for Grantham’s future over the next decade. An action plan resulting from the document is due to be finalised and will cover a wide scope of activities the group will be involved in over the coming years
  • Grantham Future also act as an effective statutory consultee for all significant town centre developments
  • The group also identify, encourage and support effective many local initiatives
What type of organisation is Grantham Future?
Grantham Future is a company limited by guarantee. This is a not- for- profit company which is community orientated.
How do they make decisions?
A democratic voting system is in place among the board members which results in a ‘majority rules’ process.
How are Grantham Future funded?
The funding comes from the partners. Core funding is found primarily from board members and South Kesteven District Council.
When do they meet?
The board meet every two months. Full meeting minutes are available to the public
